Reports spread on social media that a schoolboy in Tashkent had been forced to swallow a metal bracelet. The capital's Department of Public Education has now issued an official response to the incident.

According to officials, the incident took place on September 2 at School No. 151 in the Yashnobod district. The boy's mother said that when her son, a third-grader identified as T.M., went to the restroom, older students forced an unidentified object into his mouth.

Three days later, after her son's health took a turn for the worse, the mother took him to the hospital. Medical examinations revealed a foreign object lodged inside the boy's body.

The mother said her son had not reported the incident when it happened, and the foreign object was only discovered after an X-ray was taken. As a result, the boy underwent a grueling three-hour surgery.

The Department of Public Education said the student has since received full medical treatment and that his condition is now satisfactory.

Law enforcement agencies are carrying out a preliminary inquiry into the incident before deciding whether to open a formal investigation. Further details are expected to be released once that process concludes.
