Starting September 9, a CR200J electric train built by China's CRRC Dalian will begin service between Khiva and Bukhara, Uzbekistan Railways announced.
The train is the same one that has been running between Urgench Airport and Khiva since early September. Its route will now be extended to the Bukhara-1 station, located in Kagan, with services operating six days a week.
Beginning September 14, the train will also make a weekly run all the way to Tashkent.
As previously reported, the CR200J features six climate-controlled cars and can carry 415 passengers in economy class, with a top speed of 160 km/h.
Uzbekistan currently has two such electric trains in operation. A second set is expected to be launched soon on the Tashkent–Andijan route.
