On January 27, two men were arrested in Samarkand for planning to murder an acquaintance using a hitman, the provincial police department said.

Law enforcement learned that a 24-year-old man was looking for someone to kill a man living in Tashkent. A sting operation was launched, employing a supposed "hitman."

The suspect promised the "hitman" $2,200. He was detained while handing over $2,000 after receiving a photograph of the supposedly murdered man, appropriately disguised, from the "killer."

The preliminary investigation found that the suspect's 30-year-old boss was the primary instigator of the crime. He was reportedly planning the murder of a relative with whom he had a long-standing conflict over a large debt. He was also detained.

A criminal case has been opened under the Attempted premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances, with investigation underway.
