Uzbekistan and France have signed a $5 million framework agreement to draft a rare minerals project, the Ministry of Mining and Geology said.
The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Geology and the French Geological Service (BRGM) as part of the Uzbek-French business forum on March 11 ahead of the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France.
The parties expressed interest in implementing a project to conduct geological and technical survey of rare minerals, including coal ash containing minerals, in Uzbekistan.
In March last year, the Ministry of Geology and BRGM signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation, which is aimed at building capacity in the personnel training, developing bilateral research and exchanging experience.
