The president Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Mishaal al-Sabah held a head-to-head meeting and between the delegations of the two countries today at the Al-Bayan Palace in Kuwait city.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev voiced gratitude to the Kuwaiti Emir for the warm welcome and high attention, warmly congratulating the leader and the friendly people of Kuwait on the upcoming national holidays.
The parties discussed the ways to further advance and strengthen the Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations of friendship and multifaceted partnership.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored the Kuwait’s successful Vision 2035 program, the goals and objectives of which are in line with the long-term priorities of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan.
The two leaders commended the intensive political contacts and interdepartmental exchanges, the steady growth of mutual trade and investment with satisfaction.
Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission took place, and a number of significant business events were organized.
They focused the bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic, investment, innovation, and financial and technical areas.
The following were identified as priority areas of practical cooperation: "green" energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.
In order to promote joint projects, an agreement was reached to create mechanisms such as the Investment Platform and the Business Council, as well as to open a trading house in the city of Kuwait.
The two leaders focused on expanding the portfolio of projects with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development within the framework of the new Partnership Program.
In addition, they agreed to hold cross weeks of culture and tourism in Uzbekistan and Kuwait, and actively promote the participation of representatives of the two countries in cultural and humanitarian events in the field of art, music, cinema, education, and sports.
During the meeting, the leaders emphasized importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement and other authoritative structures.
Joint measures to prepare and hold the upcoming Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council Dialogue Summit in Samarkand in May this year were also discussed.
The leaders also exchanged views on current aspects of the international and regional agenda.
Following the talks, the heads of the two states decided to develop and strengthen a comprehensive partnership.
At the end of the talks, the president of Uzbekistan invited the Emir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan.
