The president Mirziyoyev approved amendments on February 13 to the Labor Code related to compensation for unused vacation. Previously, the Article 234 of the Labor Code provided for the payment of monetary compensation for all unused vacation days upon resigning, as well as for the part of the annual vacation exceeding the minimum 21 calendar days. Now the amendments have specified that Sunday shall not be added when calculating compensation.

If previously compensation was paid for all calendar days, now, if a Sunday falls within the period of unused vacation, no payment shall be made for this day.

The amendment may result in reduction in payments upon dismissal or when part of the vacation is replaced with monetary compensation.

Amendments have also been made related to unpaid leave (Article 241). Now its duration cannot exceed three months during any twelve-month period, and not a calendar year, as it was previously.

Previously, the limit of 3 months of unpaid leave was calculated by the calendar year (from January 1 to December 31). Now it is calculated for any 12 months in a row from the date of the last unpaid leave.

Now an employee shall not be able to take a three-month leave again at the beginning of the new year if he has already used it in previous months.

As reported earlier, amendments have also been made to the Labor Code banning sacking due to pregnancy or the presence of children. Also, passports and work books will no longer be required upon hiring.
