Chinese Yutong Bus has been awarded the tender for the supply contract of 200 electric buses with charging stations for Tashkent following the call of bids, Toshshahartranskhizmat said.
Three Chinese companies had sent bids: BYD Auto Industry, Yutong Bus and Zhongtong Bus Holding.
“Yutong Bus was declared the winner, having proposed solutions that fully meet the requirements,” the report said.
During the visit to Tashkent of the Yutong Bus delegation, talks took place between the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhamov and Yutong’s Vice President for International Marketing Xu Peng.
The parties reportedly discussed the ways to develop cooperation, upgrade public transport to eco-friendly types and to expand the scope of bus service.
According to the Ministry of Transport, a promising project purchase of another 1,000 buses for the Tashkent public transport was also discussed.
In addition, aspects related to the creation of favorable conditions for the acquisition of electric buses by private entrepreneurs were considered.
In the spring of 2023, Tashkent received the delivery of a batch of large and extra-large capacity buses - a total of 1,000 buses, including 500 gas-fueled buses and 300 Yutong e-buses and - for the first time in a long time - 200 articulated 18-meter King Long buses. The first batch of 20 Yutong electric buses arrived in Tashkent in early 2022.
