The rector of the University of Journalism Sherzodkhon Kudratkhuja commented on the possible closure of the Uzbek service of Radio Liberty and the USAID.

Just as the Kyrgyz president Sadyr Japarov, the rector Kudratkhuja supported the initiative of the chief of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk to close the Radio Liberty and Voice of America.

The rector Kudratkhuja underscored that in today's realities, these organizations had lost their relevance.

"In Soviet times, such media outlets were the propaganda tools, and today their role is questionable," said Kudratkhuja, the man who was one of the bosses of the late Karimov's propaganda machine.

According to him, there are already enough local media in Uzbekistan that are successfully fulfilling their functions.

The rector also expressed concern that US media are promoting values alien to our culture, in particular, the ideology of the LGBT community. Therefore, he said he respected the ideas of Musk and Trump to limit the activities of such media resources.

Sherzod Kudratkhuja also spoke about the USAID operations in Uzbekistan. In particular, he said he did not see any problems for our country in cooperation with the organization, but Uzbekistan is ready for independent development and relies on its own resources and international partnership in accordance with national interests. However he did not mention other Development organizations’ activities in Uzbekistan, the likes of the French AFD, Japanese JICA, the German GIZ and others.

As reported earlier, Sadyr Japarov supported Elon Musk's proposal to close the radio stations Radio Liberty (Ozodlik) and Voice of America.
