Surkhandarya province governor, Ulugbek Qosimov cancelled his own order of January 20 on awarding 661 million soums, or 51,000 USD, in bonuses to his eight deputies and the mayors of Termez city and districts on the occasion of Army Day - January 14. This was reported by the governor’s office, citing "public objections" as the reason for cancelling.
"The funds will now be contributed to the "From Poverty to Prosperity" program," the office added.
According to a copy of the document with "for official use only" mark, published by the Daryo news publication, a total of 8 deputy governors of the province and 15 district mayors were supposed to receive more than 28 million soums each.
The source of the funds was reportedly the balance money of the provincial budget formed at the beginning of the year. The justification for the award was the achieved successes of officials, as well as the high-quality and timely performance of their duties.
The order was not made public due to the presence of "personal information".
It should be noted that a large number of documents of provincial, city and district mayor offices are for official use only.
