President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Measures to effectively launch strategic analysis and research in the social, political and economic development of Uzbekistan Decree Tuesday, the Ministry of Justice said.
The Decree has created a Coordination Council for organizing the activities of analytical and research bodies.
One of the key goals of the Council is to regularly provide long-term strategic analytical documents and proposals on Uzbekistan’s domestic and foreign policy course to the president.
The Coordination Council will be an advisory body in charge of organizing strategic research on domestic and foreign political processes, as well as coordinating all stages of their implementation.
General management and coordination over the Council, as well as ensuring interdepartmental interaction will be assigned to the Presidential adviser for special instructions, Sardor Umurzakov. This is the first time that the former chief of the Presidential Adminsitration Sardor Umurzakov takes some role after falling from grace in July 2023 for yet unknown reasons.
The Council will get working groups for the following areas:
- security and social stability;
- state and society development;
- social and economic development;
- foreign policy and international cooperation;
- strategic planning and territorial development;
- environmental agenda, including climate change and water management.
