The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Russian president Vladimir Putin Wednesday, the presidential press service said.
The parties reportedly discussed the ways to further advance and strengthen the Uzbek-Russian relations, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the Russian president to Uzbekistan in May 2024.
“The two leaders emphasized the importance of taking coordinated measures aimed at ensuring the growth of mutual trade turnover, speeding up projects in industry, energy, transport, agriculture and other sectors, continuing active contacts between provinces and businesses of Uzbekistan and Russia.
In addition, the parties “commended the expanding cooperation” in the field of innovation, artificial intelligence, education and medicine.
The Kremlin press service added that the leaders of the two countries had also exchanged views “on the current situation in Syria and Ukraine.”
