The Urgut district criminal court of the Samarkand province has sentenced the driver who caused a traffic accident in July, which killed three people and injured two, the Milliy TV channel reported.
Earlier on July 29 at about 12:30 p,m,, the 21-year-old driver of a GM Cobalt collided at high speed with a Damas minivan, which was driving in the opposite direction. As a result, the driver and passenger of the Damas died on the spot, and another passenger died in the hospital. Two more passengers of the Damas and the driver of the Cobalt were hospitalized.
The father of the deceased Damas driver said: “I have two grandchildren - his son is in the second grade, my daughter will turn 4 years old. She puts tea in the refrigerator, saying that she will give it to dad when he comes. We are depressed looking at his children.”
The driver was found guilty under Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles resulting in human casualties charge - punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years and was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 a period of years.
