On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania, H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu offers his congratulatory message to the people of Uzbekistan:

"On October 6, 2024, Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan celebrate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on this significant date! I wish prosperity, fruitful development and mutually beneficial relations between our countries! Strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and educational fields is part of Romania's priority interests in Central Asia.

The meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Uzbekistan on October 23, 2023 opened up new opportunities for our cooperation.

This year, as in previous years, we have achieved very good results in various fields. It is worth mentioning the visits to Romania of the delegations of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (29 January - 2 February 2024), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan (16 April 2024) and the Prosecutor General's Office and the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (22-26 April 2024). The meeting of the Joint Romanian-Uzbek Commission on Road Transport, which took place on 27-28 March 2024 in Bucharest, contributed to the creation of additional favorable conditions in the transport sector.

The visits to Uzbekistan of the Chairman of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Activities of State Enterprises of Romania, Mihai Precup (4-6 June 2024) and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Romania, Carmen Moraru (22-28 September 2024) were very successful. An important moment of our cooperation in the parliamentary sphere was the visit to Romania of the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism Ravshanbek Alimov to participate in the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (Bucharest, June 29 – July 3, 2024).

I am confident that after the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan and Romania this year, our cooperation will continue to strengthen. There are many joint achievements in the cultural sphere. Over the past two years, Romania has participated in the International Jazz Festival organized in Tashkent by the Foundation for the Development of Arts and Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the auspices of the UNESCO office. This year, the capital of Uzbekistan hosted two outstanding events: an exhibition of painting and sculpture dedicated to the personality and work of the great Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi (February 2024) and a photo exhibition about the remarkable Romanian composer George Enescu (March 2024).

Romania participated for the first time in the Boysun Bahori International Folklore Festival with a wonderful performance by the Doina Gorgiului artistic band from the city of Targu Jiu. In March 2024, the screening of the historical documentary film "Maria - the Heart of Romania", which told the unique story of Queen Maria of Romania (1875-1938) during the difficult times of the First World War, caused a wide resonance in Tashkent. Romania continues to support the strengthening of the partnership between the European Union and Uzbekistan. Our country is a consistent and staunch supporter of close cooperation. I look to the future with great optimism. I express my sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to the Uzbek side for the fruitful cooperation!"
