The Director of the for State Assets Management Agency, Sunatilla Bekenov hosted a delegation of Sumitomo Corporation headed by the Deputy Director of the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau.

The Japanese delegation was briefed on the recent Uzbekistan civil aviation reforms and priorities in the sector following the reforms aimed at boosting tourism.

"This meeting is important ahead of the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan," said S. Bekenov.

The parties also discussed the perspectives for the use of public-private partnership schemes for effective management of airports as an international practice. In particular, proposals were made on the project of concession management of Tashkent International Airport.

Also the parties touched upon the engaging of Japanese experts for senior positions at the Uzbekistan Airports company.

The Japanese side presented the management system and passenger service at Japan’s airports in Narita, Fukoka, Senday, Kansay and Hokkaido.

The head of the Japanese delegation thanked for the warm welcome and made proposals for joint implementation of projects in the aviation industry.
