The eighth meeting of the Uzbek-Swiss Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Tashkent on 17 May. It was attended by over 25 officials of Swiss ministries and agencies, as well as companies and banks.
The sides noted the upward trend in bilateral trade figures, strengthening of Swiss business position in Uzbekistan and interest of European businesses to implement new ideas and initiatives in Uzbekistan.
In this regard, the Swiss Government has expressed its readiness to support Uzbekistan within the framework of accession to the WTO.
At the end of the meeting bilateral agreements were signed, which envisage strengthening of cooperation in the banking sector, opening of additional export credit lines, implementation of new joint tourism, industrial, agriculture and education projects.
