At a government meeting on the development of the textile industry Wednesday, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to increase exports of ready-made garments to the markets of Europe and the United States, the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
The Foreign Ministry was given a directive to develop a "road map" for cooperation with global brands with a turnover of over $ 1 billion and invite these companies to the exhibition in September in Tashkent.
The President also gave directives to open two trading houses in the American cities of St. Louis and New York. He stressed that the textile market in the United Statesis valued at about $ 100 billion per year, with the use of additional support measures, Uzbekistan's exports to this country could be raised by 5-6 times.
Uzbekistan plans to gradually adopt ERP systems at textile enterprises. Part of the costs of training companies to work with them will be compensated by the state.
The President also instructed to develop a textile industry development program 2030 together with international consultants and make proposals for the development of the leather, silk and carpet industries.
“The mayors, clusters and heads of textile enterprises must understand one thing. Those who understand how difficult it is now to provide an additional 1 soum of budget revenues will understand me. If we translate the support measures discussed today into monetary terms, this will amount to 7 trillion sums. Now the result must be appropriate,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
