President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday signed a decree creating Sirdaryo free economic zone (FEZ). The decree aimed “comprehensive and rational use of the Syrdarya province’s production and resource potential, creating new jobs and increasing the income of households”.

Quartz, a glass manufacturer, reported completing a successful maiden IPO in Uzbekistan. Over 4.5 million of Quartz shares went public on December 5, 2017, with shares sold by auction method at the highest bid price, with only 0.05% of the total amount of shares sold to one single investor.

President Mirziyoyev by his March 24 decree cancelled the mandatory pre-shipment inspection of goods imported into Uzbekistan.
