A factory for the manufacture of modernist IKEA furniture could be launched in Chirchik city, Tashkent province. This became known during the presentation of investment projects to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Monday.

The project was presented by the acting governor of the Tashkent province Davron Khidoyatov.

Reportedly, the project was proposed by IKEA LLC. The production capacity will be 3200 pieces of furniture. The total cost of the project is estimated at US$ 52 million, of which US$ 10 million is the company's own funds, and US$ 42 million is the foreign investment.

The facility will be located on ​​5.5 hectares and is scheduled to be completed in 22 months and create 320 jobs.

IKEA is a Swedish multinational conglomerate that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories, among other useful goods and occasionally home services. Founded in Sweden in 1943 by 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA has been the world's largest furniture retailer since 2008.

The president was presented 355 projects worth USUS$ 1.6 billion to be launched in the Tashkent province this year. Of these, 198 projects are related to industrial, 81 projects are in the service sector, 76 projects are in agriculture.
