A malfunction occurred at a power unit of Angren thermal power plant (TPP) on Sunday, November 13 in Tashkent province, the Ministry of Energy reported adding that at 15:14 one of the power units was switched off.
“For swift recitification of this malfunction, a team led by the Minister of Energy [Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov] immediately arrived at the plant,” the report says.
A special team was created to fix the problem. The Ministry of Energy announced that the repair work of the power unit would be completed in a short time.
“Currently, the city of Angren is stably provided with electricity, the supply of thermal energy will soon be reestablished,” the ministry noted.
Angren TPP is part of Uzbekistan’s unified energy system. It is intended for electricity and heat supply to Angren and other districts of the Tashkent province. The plant’s installed capacity is 393 MW. The plant operates on brown coal from the Angren deposit. The TPP equipment includes turbine units with a capacity of 53 MW, 54 MW, 68 MW (2 units), as well as a power unit with a capacity of 150 MW.
