Delegation led by the Minister of Justice Ruslan Davletov and Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Siddikov met officials of the US Ministry of Justice and the State Department in Washington D.C.
During the meeting with the US Deputy Minister of Justice Bruce Schwartz, the parties exchanged views on the prospects of establishing cooperation in the field of improving the skills of employees, and expanding mutual dialogue in the field of improving national legislation.
During the talks, the US expressed interest in expanding cooperation between law enforcement agencies, protecting intellectual property, combating cyberattacks, and strengthening the capacity of Uzbek specialists in the fields of criminalistics and forensics.
Bruce Schwartz confirmed that the US Department of Justice was interested in signing a legal assistance agreement in criminal matters between the US and Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held with Rashad Husayn, the ambassador of the United States for special assignments on international religious freedom, in order to strengthen dialogue in the field of ensuring religious freedom. Rashad Husayn noted that the United States welcomes Uzbekistan's significant achievements in the field of religious freedom.
He noted that the level of open dialogue and cooperation established with foreign countries and international institutions testifies to the determination of the leadership of Uzbekistan to ensure freedom of religious belief. He emphasized that the US will support Uzbekistan in further improving the legislation in the field of religious freedom.
