On October 25, 2022, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu attended the inauguration of two alternative multi-age/play preschool facilities in Khorezm province (Sayot and Shorkol neighborhoods in Khiva district), financed on the basis of Romania's voluntary contribution (from official development assistance funds) to UNICEF.
Local officials, Head of UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan, teachers, children and journalists were present at the inauguration ceremony.
In his remarks, Ambassador of Romania highlighted the contribution of the Romanian government (through the Agency for International Cooperation for Development - RoAid) to the efforts aimed at strengthening the preschool education system in Uzbekistan and thanked the Ministry of Preschool Education of Uzbekistan, UNICEF and Khorezm province administration for their permanent support and excellent cooperation.
The Ambassador emphasized that his participation at this event is part of the series of actions carried out by the diplomatic mission of Romania in Tashkent dedicated to the celebration of 160 years of Romanian diplomacy and 31 years of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These included Ambassador’s ascent on "Hazrat Sultan" peak (4083 meters) in Qashqadaryo province and recording of a congratulatory video message in Uzbek language (August 20, 2022), the book donation for the National Library of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, September 6, 2022) and the handover of medical equipment for the Multifunctional Medical Center in Surkhandaryo province (Termez, September 7, 2022).
