Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khojaev met with US Deputy Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago. The parties discussed the ways to expand investment cooperation and reached an agreement to expedite the process of signing a bilateral investment agreement, to activate cooperation in attracting US companies and financial institutions to the implementation of joint projects in the mining, chemical and petrochemical industries, agriculture, textile industry and other sectors in Uzbekistan.
The sides also considered prospects for increasing the two-way trade volume. In order to create conditions for further increase of Uzbekistan-US bilateral trade volume, to increase the volume of bilateral product supply, the willingness to continue cooperation work on the process of diversification of transport corridors was expressed.
Deputy PM expressed gratitude for the USAID's comprehensive support In the course of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO, among other methods, through the implementation of the USAID technical assistance project. The parties also agreed to continue close cooperation in order for Uzbekistan’s swift WTO accession.
