UAE low-cost airline WizzAir Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of twice-a-week flights from Abu Dhabi to Samarkand from December 13.

The company promises that ticket prices will start at AED 149 (just over $40) for a seat without luggage. On the carrier's website on the date of December 13, tickets start at 329 dirhams (about $90).

“Central Asia is a key emerging market for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi,” said Michael Berluis, managing director of the company. According to him, the route will be served by the Airbus A321neo aircraft, recently acquired by the company.

WizzAir Abu Dhabi earned an agreement to establish regular flights with Uzbekistan in July. In August, the company received permit to fly to the country. In addition to Samarkand, the air carrier is going to organize flights to Tashkent.
