President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted the invitation of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, and will attend of the informal CIS Summit on October 7 in St. Petersburg, the presidential press service said.

According to AKIpress agency (Kyrgyzstan), the events will also include the celebration of the anniversaries of the leaders of Russia and Tajikistan (Vladimir Putin turns 70 on October 7, Emomali Rahmon celebrated his 70th birthday on October 5).

On October 6, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree awarding Vladimir Putin the Highest Degree Friendship Order “for a huge contribution to the development of friendship and cooperation ties” between the peoples of the two countries, as well as on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

The agency, citing a source close to the administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan, said that Sadyr Japarov would not attend the summit, as he "listened to the reasonable insistence of the Kyrgyz society, which considers it unacceptable for Sadyr Japarov to attend the solemn event, where they will also honor the 70th anniversary of President of Tajikistan.

the Russia President spokesman Dmitry Peskov said about the informal meeting of heads of state: "This will be a very important event in the context of preparations for the next week's CIS Summit in Astana."

“As a rule, the protocol does not provide for [congratulations], and usually gifts are passed along the line of the protocol. But, of course, all the same, everyone has known each other for more than a year and even more than a decade, they are familiar with each other, therefore, for sure, purely humanly they will congratulate [Vladimir Putin] on his birthday,” he said.
