Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov, who is in New York to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, met with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said.

Reportedly, during the meeting Vladimir Norov noted that in recent years, thanks to joint efforts, the Uzbek-American strategic partnership ties had significantly intensified in all areas of the bilateral and regional agenda,through an intensive political dialogue based on the principles of mutual trust and respect.

Victoria Nuland announced the U.S.’s support for the reforms and openness being implemented in Uzbekistan. She undescored Washington's commitment to building up ties with Uzbekistan at the bilateral level and in the C5 + 1 format.

She welcomed the initiatives and practical steps taken by Uzbekistan to promote good neighborly relations with the countries of Central Asia, as well as to strengthen interregional connectivity.

"She highly valued to the country's efforts to achieve sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan, provide all possible humanitarian assistance to the neighboring state, and implement infrastructure and energy projects," the statement said.

During the meeting, the sides also exchange views on the schedule of upcoming events at various levels, as well as building up trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties.
