MPs of the Legislative Chamber approved the candidacy of Vladimir Norov for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the press service of the Chamber said.

He was appointed First Deputy Foreign Minister/Acting Foreign Minister in April, when Abdulaziz Kamilov, who had been in charge of the Foreign Ministry since 2012, became the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President in charge of Foreign Policies and Security.

Vladimir Norov, 67, graduated from the Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute, in 1985 he graduated from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, in 1990 - postgraduate studies at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. He hold PhD in legal sciences and is awarded the Mekhnat Shukhrati (Labour Glory) Order (2003).

During his career, he served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the BeNeLux, and was the head of Uzbekistan's mission to the EU and NATO. In 2006-2010 he headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also worked as director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President and Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
