On September 7, 2022 Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu participated in Termez city at the handover ceremony of medical equipment for the benefit of children for the Multifunctional Medical Center in Surkhandarya region, purchased on the basis of Romania's voluntary contribution in the amount of 40,000 euros to UNICEF (from official development assistance funds).

Local officials, members of the UNICEF Representation in Uzbekistan, the staff of the Surkhandarya Regional Medical Center and journalists were present at the medical equipment handover ceremony.

In the speech given on this occasion, ambassador of Romania H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu highlighted the contribution of the Romanian government, through the Agency for International Cooperation for Development (RoAid), to the efforts to strengthen the health system in Uzbekistan and expressed his hope that this will facilitate the provision of quality and timely medical services for children in the Surkhandarya region.

The ambassador emphasized that the equipment handover event is part of the series of actions carried out by the diplomatic mission of Romania in Tashkent in order to celebrate 160 years of Romanian diplomacy and 31 years of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These actions included the ascent by H.E.Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu on August 20, 2022 of "Hazrat Sultan" peak - 4083 meter in Qashqadaryo region in order to record a congratulatory video message in Uzbek language and the book donation ceremony for the National Library of Uzbekistan "Alisher Navoi" from the National Library of Romania, (Tashkent, 6 September 2022).
