President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenka, the presidential press service said.
At the beginning of the conversation, Alexander Lukashenka congratulated the leader and people of Uzbekistan on the upcoming Independence Day, and also expressed wishes for peace, sustainable development and prosperity of the country.
In turn, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the President of Belarus on his 68th anniversary, wishing him good health, prosperity and great success.
The two leaders discussed the ways to expand cooperation and promoting projects of practical cooperation.
Last year, the two-way trade between the two countries increased by 44%, and in the first seven months of this year - by another 12%. Last week a regular meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission was successfully held in Minsk.
The importance of expediting major cooperation projects under development in various sectors of the economy was emphasized. The two leaders also called for the continuation of active cultural and humanitarian exchange programs and exchange views on the regional agenda, including in the context of the Samarkand summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in September this year.
