The Uzsuvtaminot water supply company, Alkataş İnşaat ve Taahhut (Turkey) and Mesmer-East (Uzbekistan) signed a $22.2 million contract on August 27 to reconstruct a sewage treatment plant in Chirchik, the Uzsuvtaminot reported.

The water supply company, with the participation of the Asian Development Bank, is implementing the project "Construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in seven cities and districts of the Tashkent province."

“Now, as part of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2025, contracts are being signed with companies that have won tenders,” the statement said.

At the moment, the installed capacity of the treatment plant in Chirchik is 80,000 m3 daily. It is expected that after reconstruction this figure will increase to 130,000 cubic meters per day.

The project also plans to build 12.8 km of new and reconstruct 16 km of existing sewer networks.

As a result, the level of coverage of the population of Chirchik with centralized sewerage services will be increased from the current 61% to 84%.
