Delegation of the U.S. Congress arrived in Uzbekistan on Sunday to discuss the current state and prospects of Uzbek-American cooperation and issues of expanding inter-parliamentary assistance.

The delegation includes co-chair of the Uzbekistan Caucus in the US Congress, Republican Congressman Trent Kelly of Mississippi and member of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, Republican Congressman Derin Lahoud of Illinois, as well as their staff.

The are expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber, ministries and departments. During the visit, the delegation will get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of the country.

This is the seventh trip of members of the US Congress to Uzbekistan since 2017. A bipartisan group of US lawmakers visited the country twice last year, one of which was led by Gregory Meeks, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, from New York.
