President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted the invitation of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and will pay a state visit to Saudi Arabia on August 17-18.
This was announced at a briefing on Monday by the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov. He stressed that this would be the first visit to Saudi Arabia by the President of Uzbekistan in 30 years.
At the high-level talks in Jeddah, the parties are expected to discuss the ways to expand the bilateral ties in various fields, focusing on the "green economy", high technologies and digitalization, innovation, small business and entrepreneurship.
Large package of bilateral documents is expected to be signed at the summit.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev will meet with representatives of large Saudi Arabian companies and heads of Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Development Bank.
In addition, the President of Uzbekistan will visit the shrines of Mecca and Medina.
