The State Asset Management Agency (SAMA) has unveiled plans to sell 100 percent of the government’s stake in Uzpaynet, online payment system through a competitive sales process, in accordance with the relevant privatization programs.
The consortium of Abrau Capital and Centil is the leading privatization consultant of SAMA for the deal.
The company has been operating in Uzbek market since 2005 as one of the largest payment systems. The company is the manufacturer and owner of the Paynet payment system. Currently, more than 390 service providers accept payments through the system — mobile, Internet, utilities, insurance, and others.
Paynet cooperates with local banks - the range of payment system services includes banking services such as Cash withdrawal from card, Money transfer, Payment via details, Loan repayment.
More than 1.3 million payments are made through Paynet system every day through 25,000 payment acceptance points and the mobile app of the same name.
The sale process is carried out through a privatization mechanism based on the principles of competition open to all interested parties. Bidders must submit an expression of interest by September 7, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
Received bids shall be sorted according to the following criteria: purchase power; absence of administrative, arbitration or other legal proceedings that may prohibit participation in the privatization process; compliance with the Combating Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Law.
