At 00:00 on August 1, the nationwide discussion of amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan ended. It has been ongoing since June 25th.
At first, 10 days were provided for discussion. Then the MPs admitted that this timeframe was not enough, and added another 10 days. Later, another 15 days was added.
According to the constitutional commission on reforming, the responsible committees of the Legislative Chamber "will continue to work on summarizing and analyzing proposals received from compatriots, as well as finalizing the bill."
According to the commission, as of July 30, more than 117,300 proposals on amendments were received from citizens and organizations (of which more than 62,000 were before the publication of the draft amendments). Most of them - 77.6 thousand were received over the phone. 24.3 thousand proposals were received through the site "This is my Constitution." Citizens delivered 14.5 thousand proposals personally. The number of collective proposals is about 860.
