The Legislative Chamber and the Senate formed a joint commission to conduct an independent investigation into the events in Karakalpakstan. The commission is headed by Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova.
At the joint meeting, the request of the Ombudsman on the issue of ensuring human rights and freedoms in Karakalpakstan was considered.
The Commission includes MPs and people's deputies, leaders and employees of non-governmental and public organizations.
The results of the investigation will be made public and brought to the attention of the public of Uzbekistan and the world community.
