By a presidential decree, Sardor Umurzakov was appointed head of the Presidential Administration, president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
In connection with the appointment, Sardor Umurzakov was relieved from the position of Deputy PM - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade.
On July 8, it became known that the former head of the Presidential Administration, Zainilobiddin Nizomiddinov, was dismissed from his post “due to a transfer to another job for health reasons.”
Sardor Umurzakov, 45, holds undergraduate degree of the Tashkent State University of Economy, the graduate degree of the University of Reading (UK), has a PhD degree.
For a long time he served in the banking system of Uzbekistan and abroad - in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (London, UK), as well as in the structure of financial authorities, in particular in senior positions in the Treasury of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.
He worked as an adviser to the chairman of the board of the Uzbekcharmpoyabzali association (2014-2017), deputy chairman (2017-2018) and chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat association (2018-2019).
Since January 2019, he was appointed Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and in March 2020 he was approved by the Legislative Chamber for the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
