On July 14-15, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
The two leaders will reportedly discuss the ways to develop and strengthen the Uzbek-Turkmen relations and will focus will on the prospects for cooperation in key areas, including increasing the two-way trade, establishing industrial cooperation, effectively using the transport and transit potential, implementing important projects in the water management sector, enhancing interregional contacts, as well as continuing cultural and humanitarian exchange programs.
The heads of state will also exchange views on international issues and discuss aspects of regional cooperation. As a result of the summit, it is planned to adopt a joint statement and sign a package of bilateral documents.
The program of the stay of the President of Turkmenistan includes holding a meeting in the Oliy Majlis and visiting the sights of Samarkand.
On July 1-2, a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Water Management Issues was held in Dashoguz.
Today, Bukhara is hosting the first Forum of Provinces, a meeting of the Business Council and an exhibition of enterprises from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
