On July 6, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Special Representative of the President Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is in the United States on a working visit, met with UN Secretary General António Guterres.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed the state and prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, the regional security and sustainable development.
Reportedly, the Secretary General supported the initiative of Uzbekistan to hold an international conference “Afghanistan: security and economic development” on July 26, 2022 in Tashkent. The UN will be represented at the forum at a high level.
The Secretary General also listened to information about the essence, content and priority areas of the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan.
The parties exchanged views on other topical issues on the agenda of cooperation.
