Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed pharmaceutical officials to attract at least 10 foreign brands to the country. At a government meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev on April 12, he noted that the Pharmaceutical Agency needs to completely reorganize the system of working with projects.
Reportedly, Ulugbek Egamov, the first deputy minister of the Investment Ministry, had been instructed for this purpose. He was told to bring a new investment climate into the agency.
The agency and governors have been tasked to launch $ 80 million worth of 34 projects this year alone. For example, this year the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Park plans to launch two projects worth $ 50 million. In total, it is planned to launch 6 enterprises worth $ 280 million in 3 years in this cluster. Although there are only one enterprise in Bukhara, Jizzakh, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Khorezm that produces the simplest drugs, these provinces plan to implement only two new projects in the next two years.
Officials have been instructed to negotiate with major foreign companies and reach an agreement to attract at least 10 brands.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also set a task to attract investment in 18 major promising projects developed by the Investment Project Center. Including:
- oncology and anti-hepatitis drugs unit in Andijan with India;
- cardiovascular and respiratory drugs unit in Tashkent and Tashkent province with Germany and Turkey;
- medical tools unit in Namangan, Samarkand and Syrdarya with China and Korea.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade will take measures to attract $ 100 million in loans by May 1 and another $ 100 million by September 1 to finance new projects and replenish working capital.
