President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin today congratulating him on the successful holding of elections to the State Duma, the lower house of Russia's Federal Assembly.
In the letter, Mirziyoyev said the vote once again showed the high political culture and civic unity of Russian society, the presidential press service reported. He said the record turnout and the voting results reflected Russians' strong confidence in a strategic course of continued socioeconomic development and defense of national interests under Putin's leadership, as well as their unequivocal support for it.
Mirziyoyev said he was very pleased that the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries were developing at an unprecedented pace. He said interparliamentary cooperation, which holds a special place in bilateral ties, would continue to help implement joint projects and programs.
He expressed confidence that joint efforts would give strong momentum to all-round development of Uzbek-Russian cooperation and enrich it with new initiatives for the prosperity of both countries and the well-being of their peoples.
Mirziyoyev concluded by wishing Putin robust health and new successes in his public service, and the people of "the friendly Russia" peace, prosperity and progress.
The State Duma elections were held Sept. 18-20, the first parliamentary vote in Russia since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. With more than 95% of ballots counted as of Sept. 21, the United Russia party had won 57.83% of the vote.
