Three Belgian and two German Shepherds are expected to serve at customs posts on the Afghan and Tajik borders today.
As part of active cooperation between the Uzbekistan Customs Committee and the World Customs Organization, 3 Belgian and 2 German Shepherds were delivered to the Tashkent International Airport via Istanbul to Tashkent flight.
According to the State Customs Committee, the dogs were donated to the National Canine Center by the Netherlands Police Dog Center.
Reportedly, the project is being implemented by the Regional Office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Central Asia.
Currently, 5 service dogs brought from the Netherlands are being kept in special kennels. Upon completion of the quarantine period and climate adaptation processes, these dogs will be mobilized to serve at customs posts on the border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
