On March 17-18, a delegation of the Government of Uzbekistan led by Deputy PM/Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umrzakov visited Washington, USA.

During the two-day visit, Deput PM met with the World Bank President David Malpass, the Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Berde, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Mahtar Diop, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raymondo, as well as his First Deputy Don Graves, U.S. Trade Representative Catherine Ty, CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott Nathan, and USAID Administrator Samantha Power.

The talks focused on strengthening the promotion of socio-economic reforms, attracting additional investment and technical assistance to implement new projects in industry, energy, infrastructure development, banking and finance and businesses and discussed the ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia and in detail.

The parties discussed cooperation to increase and diversify Uzbekistan-US trade, deepen bilateral investment cooperation, introduce advanced US technologies and innovations in various industries and agriculture, attract U.S. companies to do business in Uzbekistan, as well as Uzbekistan's participation in the World Trade Organization.

Following the visit, a number of agreements were reached on further deepening Uzbek-American cooperation in trade, economic, investment, innovation and technology, as well as financial and technical areas.
