Blogger Asal Khodjaeva, aka Asal-honey, was today found dead in her Tashkent home in Yashnabad district on March 18, the Tashkent City Police Department said.

The Tashkent City prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Premeditated murder charge of the Criminal Code.

In early January, reports of her death circulated online. Then the police department denied the information.

In November 2020, she was sentenced to 5 days of administrative arrest and a fine of 4.46 million soums under Article 41 (insult) and Article 183 (Petty hooliganism) of the Code of Administrative Liability. According to media reports, she posted on Instagram a fragment of correspondence with a man, after which he began to receive threats from unknown persons and went to court.

She also recorded a video message that month in which she apologized for her "inappropriate photos and videos." The woman asked to be left alone and said that she "took the path of correction."

She had been renowned for her libertine and non-conservative views and declarations and had been threatened and intimidated on numerous ocassions by conservatives.

Asal Khojaeva's Instagram account has over 211 thousand subscribers.
