Prosecutor in Fergana was arrested for demanding bribe in exchange for illegal land allocation, the Prosecutor General's Office said.

Reportedly that on January 18, the Fergana province prosecutor's office held an operation in cooperation with officers of the province State Security Service department. The operation found that the senior prosecutor of the Fergana regional prosecutor's office A.T. although not within the scope of his official authority, had promised A.X. to allocate a 1.5-hectare plot of land at the back of the meat shop that belonged to him, allegedly with the help of cadastral officials. A prosecutor was arrested while receiving $ 1,000 fraudulently in return for his services.

On the same day, the Fergana province prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case under Article 168, Part 3, Clause "v" (fraud) and Article 28, Part 211, Part 1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.

The suspect was arrested in a procedural order, with an investigation underway.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that criminal proceedings were launched against 2,800 officials in 2021.
