President Mirziyoyev signed decrees for 4 photovoltaic plant projects to be commissioned in Surkhandarya, Jizzakh, Samarkand and Navoi provinces with overall 1,096.6 MW capacity before 2024. Three projects will be implemented by the UAE's Masdar and the fourth by the Netherlands' Phanes Energy Holding III B.V., the Ministry of Energy said.

In particular, by October 2023, two solar photovoltaic plants with a capacity of 220 MW each will be built in Gallaaral district of Jizzakh province and Kattakurgan district of Samarkand province, and by December 2023 in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya province with a capacity of 456.6 MW. All three projects will be implemented by the UAE company Masdar.

Also, until November 2023, in the Nurata district of Navoi province the Netherlands-based Phanes Energy Holding III B.V. is scheduled to commission 200 MW capacity photovoltaic plant.

As reported earlier, project agreements for 8 solar photovoltaic power plant projects with total capacity of 1,900 MW in Bukhara, Namangan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Fergana and other provinces and a wind power plant of 1,700 MW in Karakalpakstan are to be inked in 2022,.

The first solar photovoltaic plant with 100 MW capacity was commissioned in Karmana district of Navoi province in August 2021.
