On December 27, hand-over ceremony took place in Seoul of eight units of special automobile fire-fighting and medical equipment, as well as protective gear and equipment donated by the South Korean government for the needs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, Dunyo reported.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Uzbek Embassy in Seoul, the National Fire Service of the Republic of Korea, the Korean-Uzbek Business Association and the Korean Fire Safety Association.

Equipment delivery to Uzbekistan is due in early 2022. The South Korean authorities also plan to organize training courses on the operation of this equipment both in Uzbekistan and in South Korea.

During the event, the parties noted the upward trend in the bilateral cooperation in the field of fire safety. In particular, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Scientific Research Institute of Fire Safety and Emergency Situations under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan and the Korean Fire Institute, and direct contacts of interagency cooperation were established for regular exchange of experience.

Currently, the issue of implementing fire safety training complex construction project in Tashkent province is being worked out with the South Korean side. In addition, it is planned to step up cooperation in the field of training and retraining of personnel, including training specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan in fire training institutions in South Korea.
