Russia is concerned about the continuing degradation of the situation in Afghanistan, the IS militants are concentrating in the north of the country for expansion into the Central Asia, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reported.
“We remain concerned with the deteriorating security situation, especially in the north of Afghanistan, where ISIS fighters concentrate their forces and keep trying to create a bridgehead for the expansion to Central Asia. No less dangerous is the high level of production of drugs in Afghanistan, which is a source of financial support for both local and international terrorists.,” Lavrov said in a video message to the participants of the Geneva International Conference on Afghanistan.
Last year in November, the Uzbek Foreign Minister Kamilov at a high-level UN Security Council meeting chaired by Russia said: We have been hearing for 25 years that the Central Asia would be invaded by terrorists and that it would soon explode.
