On September 10, Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umurzakov held talks with the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Ali Haider Zaidi, the Uzbek Ministry of Investment Foreign Trade reported.

During the talks, the counterparts reviewed the ways to expand transport and logistics cooperation, namely adopting joint measures to boost freight traffic through the territories of the two states and the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing the transport infrastructure.

The Pakistani Minister expressed readiness to provide consulting and technical assistance to facilitate the use by Uzbekistan of the infrastructure of Gwadar, Karachi and Kasym ports, for which a group of Uzbek experts in the field of transport will be seconded to Pakistan in the near future.

Following the talks was reached an agreement to set up a working group at the level of the heads of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the Federal Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, as well as the Pakistan National Logistics Corporation (PNSC) in order to develop and agree on mechanisms for practical cooperation in the outlined areas.
