The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on Thursday, the presidential press service said in a statement.
The two leaders reportedly considered the topical aspects of bilateral ties and the international problems.
Earlier in April there was a group of Chinese doctors having experience in the fight and containing the coronavirus infection arrived in Uzbekistan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Chinese experts had shown great professionalism, their hard work in the provinces had contributed to enhance the effectiveness of pandemic countermeasures.
According to the leaders, all this has become yet another evidence of the strengthened Uzbek-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership ties which are based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and trust.
An agreement was also reportedly reached to continue active exchanges between the health ministries of the two countries. The parties also substantively discussed the state and prospects of expanding multifaceted cooperation, including in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, investment, financial, energy, agricultural, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian and other key areas.
The two leaders commended the launched fruitful dialogue on poverty reduction based on the study and implementation of the best Chinese practices is especially noted. Based on the results of the conversation, careful preparation for the upcoming bilateral summit events will continue.
The ministries and departments, provincial administrations, banking and financial institutions and leading companies of the two countries are stepping up the joint efforts in order to minimize the negative consequences of the pandemic and to find new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, the statement said.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and China reiterated their readiness to further enhance full-scale cooperation in the spirit of friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership ties.
