Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in.

The two leaders discussed the ways to further strengthen the bilateral special strategic partnership ties and expanding multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, and also exchanged views on some issues of the regional and international agenda, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

They focused, in particular, on stepping up joint efforts in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection. Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked Moon Jae-in for practical assistance in countering the pandemic.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and South Korea reiterated their commitment to expanding practical cooperation and effectively implementing the best practices of Korean medicine, including during the quarantine period, identifying and treating diseases, and enhancing the skills of medical personnel.

An agreement was reached on close coordination of actions and operational cooperation between the ministries of health and the leading medical centers of the two countries.

The presidents also discussed in detail on the ways to maintain the achieved upward trend in trade, economic, investment, financial and scientific and innovative cooperation between the two countries and the implementation of priority bilateral projects with the participation of major Korean companies and socially significant programs through the Eximbank of Korea and the EDCF Fund.
