Today, on April 10, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the extraordinary summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states, the presidential press service said.

The summit will be held in a video conference format and will be devoted to the coordination of common efforts in the fight against the spread of coronavirus. It is being convened on the initiative of the Azerbaijani side, the chair of the organization.

The event will be reportedly attended by the heads of five member states of the Turkic Council - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Hungary.

The World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is expected to join the videoconference.

The parties will exchange views on the priority measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, while also touching upon the advancing of priority projects of trade, economic, investment, transport and communication cooperation in the context of the global epidemiological crisis.

Following the Council meeting, the parties are expected to adopt a joint declaration.
